The Committee was constituted with the objective of promoting legal research and writing. Apart from conducting the RMLNLU International Legal Essay Writing Competition every year, the Committee annually publishes two peer reviewed journals – the RMLNLU Law Review and the RMLNLU Journal on CMET (Communication, Media, Entertainment and Technology) Law. The Journal accepts submissions from law students, academicians and legal professionals all over the country and abroad in the form of:

● Articles: 5000-7000 words. (These are evaluations of specific contemporary issues and aim at conceptualizing the issues in a unique and unconventional manner. The assessment of contemporary issues shall be appreciated, though not mandatory).

● Case notes/comments: 2000-3000 words. (These are assessments of the aim and legal impact of contemporary judgments and legislations).

● Book Reviews: 2000-3000 words. (Entries submitted under this category may present innovative evaluations of present literature).

● Essays: 4000-5000 words.

The submissions may be on any contemporary legal issue connected with media law and its allied fields of communications, entertainment and technology. The authors are expected to adhere to the prescribed word limit as indicated above.

Note: The prescribed word limits exclude Abstract, whose word limit is around 10 percent of the total length of the article, and footnotes, wherein speaking footnotes must be avoided wherever possible.

Each of these entries shall be required to conform to the set of guidelines that follow.

Born in 2008 as the flagship journal of Gujarat National Law University, The GNLU Law Review (‘TGLR’) is a bi-annual, student-edited, peer-reviewed journal, designed as a vehicle for promoting multifarious contemporary legal research. It was envisioned to address the need for broadening the platform for academicians, professionals, researchers, and students, where knowledge and scholarship of new and innovative ideas in legal and associated disciplines could be exchanged and disseminated.

Internationally recognized with ISSN number 0974-9810, the journal aspires to create awareness on developing areas of law in India and around the world. In the past, the law review has seen contributions from eminent legal scholars from around the globe. 

Guidelines

TGLR is open for academicians, practitioners, research scholars, and postgraduate students. All submissions must be accompanied with an abstract of not more than 250 words. Up to 5 keywords should also be provided. 

TGLR does not follow any particular theme. However, preference would be given to the submissions made pertaining to contemporary legal issues. 

The contributions submitted towards publication in TGLR must not have been previously published or currently submitted for publication elsewhere. The contributions shall be evaluated on the basis of originality, innovativeness, clarity and technical correctness. Authors shall solely be responsible for the accuracy of statements in the article.

Co-authorship is allowed to a maximum of 2 authors. The manuscript must not contain the name of the author(s) or his/her institutional affiliation or any other information. A separate cover letter containing the name of the author(s), professional information, contact details and other relevant information must be provided.

Categories

• Articles (5000-8000 words, excluding footnotes).
• Essays (3000-5000 words, excluding footnotes).
• Book Reviews/Case Commentary/ Legislative Comments (1500-3000 words, excluding footnotes).

Formatting and Citation Style 

• Submissions must be made in Microsoft Office (doc./docx.) formats only.
• The paper should be free from all grammatical and spelling   errors.
• The body of the manuscript must be in the font ‘Times New Roman’, font size 12, line spacing 1.5 and the text should be justified.
• All footnotes must be in Font ‘Times New Roman’, font size 10, line spacing 1 and justified. All submissions must follow the ‘The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (20th Edition)’. The authors may refer to The GNLU Law Review Citation Guide from here.
• Non-conformity will be a ground for rejection.

General Instructions

·       An abstract of about 250-300 words and 5 keywords should be mandatorily included in the same word document as a part of the submission.

·       The title should be Bold, Underlined, in Capitals, Size 16, and Centre Aligned.

·       Headings should be Bold, in Capitals, Size 14, and left aligned.

·       The contents should in no way, directly or indirectly, indicate or reference the identity of the author(s).

·       The submission should be original and non-plagiarized. They should exhibit originality in thought, critical evaluation, and careful interpretations. Submission of a paper shall be taken to imply that it is an unpublished work and is not being considered for publication elsewhere.

·       The author(s) must send in the cover letter in the body of the mail, which must contain all the relevant biographical details (Name of the author(s), their degrees, Designation, Name of College/University/Institution, Postal Address, Phone Number and Email ID). A separate attachment as a cover letter will not be entertained.

·       The mail bearing the manuscript must indicate the category that the submission is intended for, i.e. Article/ Essay/ Case Comment/ Book Review.

·       Co-Authorship to a maximum of two members is allowed. However, co-authorship is not allowed in “book reviews” and “case notes/comments”.

·       Editors’ decision shall be final and binding. They reserve the sole rights to the publication of the selected articles in addition to; inter alia, any edits/amends/reproduction.

·       The contributions presented to and accepted for publication and the copyrights therein shall be the intellectual property of the Journal Committee, RMLNLU.

How To Submit?

The submissions may be emailed to lawreview.rmlnlu@gmail.com in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format. The attached submission in the email, i.e., the name of the document must be the name(s) of the author(s).

The subject title for the mail must be ‘Article/Essay/Case Comment/Book Review for Volume XII’. Please note that only one submission per author or a team of co-authors is permissible. In case of more than one submission, only the one received first would be considered for review.

Submission Deadline And Review

The deadline for submission of the manuscript is  26 September 2021.

There shall be a rigorous review process comprising 3 stages. Members of the Advisory Board will be closely involved in the review process. This would ensure a greater standard of review and identification of quality academic writing. The authors shall be intimated about the status of their manuscript at every stage.
