Prior to handling this organization, Ms. Wallick worked for Harvard Law School for twelve years, most recently as the Assistant Director of Admissions and Financial Aid for the Graduate Program. • DAY 3- Mr. Subhrajit Chanda

Mr. Subhrajit is working as Asst Lecturer at OP Jindal Global University, and a Member Centre for Sports Law, Business and Governance of Jindal Global Law School. Currently, he is pursuing a PhD, after completing LL.M. in Sports Law, from Nottingham Trent University of United Kingdoms, with an international scholarship provided by the university; and another LL.M. in Energy Law from University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, India. He did his B.B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) focussing on International Trade Law.        He also has other diploma and certificate courses from the UK Anti-Doping agency, FIFA, International Olympic Association, and also from Open University, UK collaborated with English Football League.He is a sports enthusiast and has played for the Sports Authority of India, the eastern region for certain period of time. Also, back in UK, he has worked as a sports mentor volunteer at Nottingham Trent University Partner with Laureus Foundation and UK Media and Sports Government.

Mr. Chanda will address queries on admissions, application process, examinations and scholarships.

Increasing Diversity by Increasing Access to Legal Education (IDIA) is a non- profit   organization working in India which aims to empower underprivileged children by providing them with equal access to quality legal education. It is a student-run organization that aims to train underprivileged students and transform them into leading lawyers and community advocates. We conduct sensitizations across India to spread awareness among underprivileged children about opportunities in pursuing law as a career, select promising students and provide training for law entrance examinations, including the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT), provide financial aid and mentorship to these students once they secure their admission to a leading law school.

IDIA – Kerala Chapter functions from its base at The National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS), Kochi, which is the only National Law University in Kerala. The Kerala Chapter is run entirely by student volunteers from NUALS, with an aim to help underprivileged students in the state.

The Event

An LLM from a NLU can be a game changer in your career. However, the CLAT PG and AILET PG entrance exams are competitive. It is important to have a focussed and systematic preparation for the exams. Important areas relating to law must be clearly understood by the aspirants. Starting your preparation early and following the right method of studying will go a long way in helping you crack these exams. 

IDIA Kerala Chapter is conducting a workshop where we will be discussing the opportunities that open up after a LLM from a NLU, pattern of CLAT PG and AILET PG, preparation strategies, tips and tricks, and recommendations for materials by our resource persons. To lead the talk, we have Krithika Singh and Dhanya Prasad, who have cracked these exams with top ranks. We will also have a Q&A session at the end of workshop where participants can get clarification. 

The workshop is scheduled to be held on 18th December, Saturday from 7PM to 8:30PM

The speakers for the session are: 

Dhanya Prasad graduated from NUALS, Kochi in 2020 with university second rank and four gold medals. She is currently pursuing LLM in Business Laws at National Law University, Delhi. She secured AIR 3 in AILET PG 2021. She is also a tutor for law entrance exams at Jays Academy, Trivandrum. Her areas of interest include Contract Law, Intellectual Property Law and Constitutional Law. 

Kritika Singh pursued her LLM in Constitution and Criminal Law from the National Law University, Delhi. She secured AIR 11 for the AILET PG 2020 and AIR 33 for the CLAT PG 2020. She is currently enrolled with the Bar Council of Delhi and is a practicing advocate.

Beneath the waves, marine ecosystems are suffering. Climate change is making the world’s oceans hotter, more acidic, and less oxygen-rich at a time when fish already face warlike industrial overfishing around the globe. Human pressures are causing fisheries to disappear, driving marine animals towards the poles, shrinking the size of fish bodies, fueling cyclones and floods, and shifting currents. With three billion people relying on fish as a primary source of protein, this looming ecological collapse poses a profound risk to humanity. In short, we are in hot water—but making radical changes now could have an enormous, healing impact. This online panel will address the questions: How are industrial fishing policy and climate change impacting the world’s marine ecosystems? What international actions need to be taken to protect the ocean’s health and biodiversity in the face of a changing climate?

Featuring: 

• Daniel Pauly, Professor and Principal Investigator of the Sea Around Us project at the University of British Columbia and leading international expert on the human impacts on global fisheries.
• Jennifer Jacquet, New York University professor of environmental science with a focus on marine health.
• Tabitha Grace Mallory, University of Washington professor, founder of the China-Ocean Institute, and expert in Chinese environmental & marine policy.

Mr Sanjay R Hegde, is a Senior Advocate at the Supreme Court of India. He began his illustrious career back in 1989 while working as a lawyer with M/s Mulla & Mulla & Craigie Blunt & Caroe Solicitors. He gained his LL.M while at work and thereafter moved to Delhi to practice in the Supreme Court in the Chambers of Senior Advocate Mr G. Ramaswamy. During this period, he worked on several high-profile cases, appeared for the Government of Indian before an international arbitral tribunal and from 1996 to 2004 was on the Union of India’s arguing panel before the Supreme Court.

He also worked for a decade as the Advocate on Record for the State of Karnataka and thereafter focused on private practice. He has frequently engaged in legal journalism including appearing on television panels and writing as a columnist for newspapers.

Prof. (Dr.) S. Shanthakumar is the Director of Gujarat National Law University with about 27 years of teaching experience at prestigious universities. He is an alumnus of Madras University, Chennai, where he earned his graduation, post-graduation and doctorate degree in law. Before joining the legal academia, he had practised at the Madras High Court for seven years.
