Debate Competition<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(Truth is discovered and assimilated or realized by debates and discussions) &#8211; Ancient Indian Philosophy of Vadashastra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">With the advancement in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) &#8211; the world is more accessible and connected than ever before. The continuous revolution in this particular domain along with its huge networks and social media platforms has totally revolutionised the humanity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">It has become a key variable for our daily information and substantive knowledge. But the whole phenomenon has also led to the bombardment of misinformation and fact less wisdom; which in turn has created a deep crisis for humanity itself. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">It is quite challenging for the young generation to reflect upon the positive and negative dynamics of the same. The whole idea of debate and discussions offers a positive platform to analyse modern communication\u2019s wonders and challenges attached to it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">A logical and rational debate not only empowers the society, but also provides a way forward for the future. One cannot discard the idea of modern communication web and its importance in imparting the valuable information; but the limitations attached to it needs to be mooted upon too. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">Students and future law makers today are facing an unprecedented challenge under the Covid crisis. Information and communications technologies and tools attached to it have become a \u2018new normal\u2019 for their academic and personal life. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">But at the same time, it has also brought the deluge of information with myriad resources. In fact, the whole world is dealing with the new concept of \u2018Infodemic\u2019. This Infodemics have affected the idea of communication and knowledge consumption simultaneously. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">An overabundance of information \u2013 some accurate and some inaccurate \u2013 makes it hard for the people to find out trustworthy sources and reliable guidance on the same. As technological advancement is moving on an unprecedented scale and creating new normal for the entire world; the whole idea of mis \u2013 information, dis \u2013 information and mal-information along with the valuable information is affecting our domains. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">From government policies to symptoms and treatment to its origin and vaccination et al. \u2013 infodemics have duly engulfed humanity alongside the pandemic itself. And it often influences our perceptions, physical attributes and psychological paradigms. Hence, the topic for this debate competition, \u2018Bombardment of Infodemic in Times of Pandemic\u2019, gyrates around the same phenomenon. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">The whole idea through this particular activity is to provide a platform to students from various universities to come forward, share their views and learn from each other. After all the whole idea of \u2018argumentative traditions\u2019, remains India\u2019s important legacy and was the cornerstone to the \u2018idea of India\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Eligibility\"><\/span>Eligibility<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Eligibility_for_National_Debate_Competition_by_NMIMS\"><\/span><strong>Eligibility for National Debate Competition by NMIMS<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 The competition is open to all the undergraduate students of any UGC recognised university\/institution.<br>\u2022 By applying for the competition, the teams shall be deemed to have accepted the terms and conditions of the organizing institution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"RULES_OF_DEBATE\"><\/span>RULES OF DEBATE<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 The competition will be a virtual one and will be conducted via Zoom application.<br>\u2022 Two participants will be allowed from each University\/Institution<br>\u2022 The debate will be chaired by a \u2018speaker\u2019, who will read out the motion.<br>\u2022 The participants of every university\/institution will be required to prepare for both the sides \u2013 FOR and AGAINST the motion.<br>\u2022 Each Candidate will be allotted 3 minutes for their respective stand.<br>\u2022 Four awards and prizes will be announced \u2013 two for winners and two for runners\u2019 up (for and against the motion).<br>\u2022 Medium of Communication will be English only.<br>\u2022 Decision made by the panel of Judges will be final and binding.<br>\u2022 The dress code for the activity is western or Indian formals<br>\u2022 At any point of conflict, the decision of Host Institution (NMIMS, Indore), will be final and participants have to follow the same.<br>\u2022 School of Law, NMIMS, Indore reserves the right to alter or change the rules or procedure of the competition<br>\u2022 Details and information concerning the debate will be shared through Email and WhatsApp by the organizing committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Important_Dates\"><\/span>Important Dates<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Date of Event- 25<sup>TH<\/sup>&nbsp;July<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last date of Registration- 21<sup>ST<\/sup>&nbsp;July<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Penalties_and_Disqualification\"><\/span>Penalties and Disqualification:<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Use of foul language or use of any written document\/chits\/any other source during the debate will result in disqualification of the candidate.<br>\u2022 Candidates are required to have a proper internet connection failing which will result in the disqualification of the candidate.<br>\u2022 If a violation of the rules is believed to have been committed by a team or one of its members, the organising committee may in its own discretion,<br>upon its initiative or complaint from another team or assessor, impose a penalty or disqualify the team.<br>\u2022 The Competition Grievance Panel shall be informed before any action of disqualification is taken.
