A petition has been filed before the Supreme Court, which sought for appropriate directions to be undertaken in order to facilitate door-to-door vaccination of citizens\u2019, including elderly, differently abled, weaker sections of the society, under-privileged, and those who were unable to register themselves for the vaccination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This petition has been brought before the apex court by the Youth Bar Association of India. It averred that this is the need of the hour as it would minimize the risk of getting affected by COVID while waiting at the vaccination centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The petition submitted that such vulnerable communities should not be deprived of the vaccination as the same would be detrimental to the larger public interest<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The petitioner penned down India as a \u201cwelfare state\u201d and stated that it\u2019s the liability of the nation to secure the welfare and interest of all. The government had raised the legitimate expectation<\/a> that the vaccine so made would be procured by it and provided to all sections of society through a well-planned chain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The plea highlighted that the COVID-19 vaccine is a life-saving drug<\/a> and the same shall be included in the Essential Commodity List of medicines. It also sought for a pan-India toll free both where such economically backward people and other varied sections of society, who might not be able to register themselves, shall get registered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The plea also suggested that the promotion\/advertisement of same could be done through a number of advertisements or governments hoardings so as to make such sections aware. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The plea, lastly, suggested for creation of mobile vans which would enable vaccination of such people who live in remote areas.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
