The Delhi High Court, while hearing an appeal preferred by late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput\u2019s father, issued a notice to the producers of Nyay: The Justice; a film based on the life of late Bollywood actor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The appellant preferred an appeal against the order which repudiated to restrain the producers from using the name, caricature and\/or likelihood of the actor in the respective movie. The movie was supposed to be released on the OTT platform, Lapalap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the instant case, the said movie is said to have been inspired from the life late Bollywood actor. The actor\u2019s father approached the court seeking injunction on such movies which have been made, or being planned to be made in future, form using his son\u2019s name, caricature or likelihood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Besides, the appellant had claimed to own celebrity rights belonging to his son, as he holds the position of sole legal heir<\/a> of his son.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The said notice had been issued by the court<\/a> upon a submission of appellant\u2019s counsel, who submitted that the respondents had commercially exploited the life-story of late Bollywood actor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The counsel further argued that such movies not only affect appellant\u2019s Right to Privacy, but also infringe his right to a fair trial, as several cases, related to the cause of actor\u2019s death, are being heard in the court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The appellant further stated that in the month of September, 2020, through his counsel, he declared that no movie, book or series based on his son should be made without prior consent. The counsel alleged that the family had not been approached and the made the movie in the light of self-proclaimed tribute to late Bollywood actor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
