The Bombay High Court observed presence of prima facie case against Priyanka Singh, sister of Late Bollywood Actor Sushant Singh Rajput and quashed the proceedings initiated against Meetu Singh.
The FIR was lodged at the instance of Rhea Chakraborty on the grounds of criminal conspiracy and abetment to suicide of the late actor.
The court directed that there should be no obstacle during the investigation against Priyanka Singh.
Apart from the Singh sisters’, the FIR was also lodged against Dr. Tarun Kumar of Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, who gave the prescription for medicines procured by Priyanka Singh for the late actor.
The allegations were framed under relevant provisions of Indian Penal Code and Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS). Later, the case had been transferred to Central Bureau of Investigation, which is already looking into the matter of late actor’s suicide mystery.
The advocate on behalf of the sister’, however, pointed out discrepancies in the complaint and statements delivered by the complainant.
They also cited that no piece of evidence is placed the respective authority against the doctor.
CBI, on the other hand, replied to HC that two FIRs against one matter hold no place in the eyes of law. The termed it “total disregard to the law” and stated that they were already investigating the case Sushant Singh Rajput’s death.
They also stated that Mumbai Police’s actions are that of malicious prosecution. The Mumbai Police defended their decision of registering the FIR by stating that neither they are against the same accused, nor involve same conspiracy. Also, that the FIRs do not violate the rights of sisters’ and that they were immediately transferred to the CBI.
