About National Law Institute University, Bhopal and Centre for Labour Laws (CLL)
The National Law Institute University, Bhopal (NLIU), was established by the Rashtriya Vidhi Sansthan Vishwavidyalaya Adhiniyam, by an Act No. 41 of 1997 enacted by the Madhya Pradesh State Legislature. NLIU is recognized by the University Grants Commission and the Bar Council of India.
National Law Institute University’s newest rock pillar- Centre for Labour Laws (CLL) has been established in 2019. Although born in one of the most uncertain times mankind has ever seen, CLL is destined to grow as a bearer of light and empathy. The Centre is one of a kind and serves as an embodiment of labour rights for the brick bearers of the nation- our labourers. One of the aims of the Centre is to provide a platform for research on policy, institutional, legal and regulatory issues and act as a platform for exchanging ideas amongst Govt. authorities, lawyers, policymakers, regulators and academia.
“Launch of New Helpline under MazdoorMitra by CLL, NLIU
“As the process of Unlock has begun throughout the country, in absence of awareness about the relevant laws and government policies, Labourers and/or Employees become prone to exploitation. The same holds true for employers who, because of lack of knowledge about technicalities, often find themselves getting into legal trouble on account of non-compliance.
In light of the same, the Legal Aid Wing (LAW) of the Centre for Labour Laws (CLL) of the National Law Institute University Bhopal has started a new Initiative under its flagship MazdoorMitra banner to provide free legal aid service and consultation to the Labourers, employees and Employers to resolve their legal problems with respect to Labour law-related issues.
Chairperson of CLL Mr Mahendra Soni states that the Initiative has become the first of its kind started by any Centre of any Educational Institute in Central India with a dedicated free Legal aid service number which can be dialled to receive legal consultation and service.
The Legal Aid Wing head, Mr PrasunTiwari also stated that a person can also send a WhatsApp text message stating their problems and the legal aid team will reach out to them to provide assistance. Our dedicated Legal Aid Wing team would be available from 10 AM to 6 PM on weekdays to resolve legal queries pertaining to labour and employment law matters.
The helpline number for the same is 7828028798 from 10 AM to 6 PM on weekdays only.
The Centre has collaborated with the State Legal Service Authority and various District Legal Service Authorities to resolve the issues and provide speedy assistance to the parties. Many reputed lawyers have also been empanelled on a pro-bono basis to provide all possible legal assistance to the Centre.
CLL is not responsible for any unaddressed grievance. This is simply a consultation platform with an intention to help in a pro-bono manner”
