Symbiosis Law School, Hyderabad (SLS-H), cocooned in the upcoming educational zone with state-of-the-art infrastructure, is a vibrant law institute established in 2014, inheriting splendid novelty, dynamism, and excellence in education of Symbiosis International (Deemed University).
The Literary and Debate Society is established to provide students with the opportunity to liberate their thoughts and act as a platform to voice their opinions and sharpen oratory skills. It is actively engaged in providing a substantial and unrestricted foundation for students to explore the world beyond textbooks where the freedom of speech, dissent and discussion of significant social issues are vital for change and the well-being of the society.
The Literary and Debate Society of Symbiosis Law School, Hyderabad is pleased to announce the Symbiosis Law School National Model United Nations, 2021 (SLSH-MUN 2021) to be held from 20th March 2021 to 21st March 2021. A simulation of the United Nations, this event will be the pinnacle of debate, global collaboration & diplomacy. This two-day affair will provide students with the opportunity to showcase their oratory and diplomacy skills, as well as participate in solving global problems by representing different countries around the world. This MUN will feature numerous delegates from institutions across the country & an ace Executive Board, making it an event that will push the boundaries of debate and promises an unforgettable experience. The SLS-H MUN will follow the UNA-USA procedure which can be found here. The event will be conducted online via the video conferencing platform Zoom.
DELEGATE REGISTRATION PROCESS
Interested participants are requested to fill the online registration form via the link attached below. Participants must mention their committee preferences and previous experiences as per the form. All registrations must be complete by 13th March 2021.
Eligibility Criterion: Participants who are 13 years old and above are eligible.
Registration Fee: ₹200 per delegate

The final decision for the allotment of countries lie at the discretion of the Literary and Debate Society.

Delegates will compete for the following awards –
1. Best Delegate Award – ₹2,000 + Certificate of Merit + Gifts (if any)
2. High Commendation – ₹1,000 + Certificate of Merit + Gifts (if any)
3. Best Delegation – ₹4,000 + Certificate of Merit + Gifts (if any)
4. Special Mention – Certificate of Merit
All delegates will be given participation certificates.

COMMITTEES
1. UNITED NATIONS SECURITY COUNCIL
President: Arnav Bhardwaj
The Security Council is one of the six primary organs of the United Nations and is responsible for upholding global peace and security by ensuring steady collaboration between countries. It is considered to be one of the most powerful bodies of the UN and will provide participants the occasion to partake in some of the most important decisions of the world.
AGENDA: Review of the current legal framework for deployment of Peacekeeping Operations
2. UNITED NATIONS HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION
President: Sofia Dash
The Human Rights Commission’s main aim and mission is to protect the human rights of people all over the world. They work towards helping Women’s rights, LGBTQ rights, minorities’ rights, and other people who are afflicted across the globe. This committee will help delegates discuss violations suffered across countries and how to best solve them and make the world a better place!
AGENDA: Deliberation on the shortcomings of the IHL and ICRC in safeguarding the rights of civilians and POWs (prisoners of war) during War Crimes.
3. ALL INDIA POLITICAL PARTIES MEET
Moderator: Rahul Menon
The All-India Political Party Meet provides a platform for different political perspectives from different parties to come together and indulge in a healthy unrestricted debate and discussion that influences the nation. The delegates emulate the political parties they are assigned and represent them while attempting to solve the problem at hand.
AGENDA: Reassessment of the presence of different pressure groups in india and assessing the effects on elections.
4. CRISIS COMMITTEE

Crisis committees provide more freedom than traditional ones and are flushed with fast-paced action. They enable you to think on your feet and work together as new directives from the Board force you to adapt. The delegates get to deal with and solve new crises as they arise, making this committee one of the most anticipated and awaited ones.
