A PIL has been filed in the Bombay High Court against the alleged ongoing reporting by the media on Sushant Singh Rajput death case on the ground that the alleged reporting is an act of Media trial and parallel investigation which could hamper the CBI probe in the death of the actor.
Petitioners: Mr NileshNavalakha, Shri. Mahibub D Shaikh, Shri. Subhash Chander Chaba
Respondents: Union of India, Press Council of India, News Broadcasters Association, Central Bureau of Investigation, State of Maharashtra, The India Today Group, Times Now, Republic TV, NDTV Ltd, News 18, Zee News
Petitioner pleaded that the actions of the Media in sensationalizing Sushant Singh Rajput‟s death is not only adversely impacting the ongoing investigation by the CBI, but is also in the teeth of the “doctrine of postponement” propounded by a Constitution Bench of the Hon’ble Supreme Court in Sahara India Real Estate Corpn. Ltd. v. SEBI, (2012) 10 SCC 603.
