LexForti along with our knowledge partners Wordict-IP Hyderabad’s oldest IP firm is conducting the 1st National Trademark Prosecution Competition. 

We are conducting this competition that benefits the smartest minds of the Legal fraternity to explore practical aspects of Intellectual Property laws in India, this will be a Competition based on the skills of the most astute and percipient students of the Legal community.

About the Competition

We are introducing the 1st National Trademark Prosecution Competition. This competition is the first of its kind for students who wish to learn and enhance their practical knowledge in the budding arena of Intellectual Property laws in India. It not only provides a platform for students to learn and compete but also adds a feather to the list of the participants’ achievements weaving a path for invaluable opportunities in the future. 

 Eligibility 

  • It is an online event
  • Participants can be currently the students of any recognised College or University pursuing a 3-year LL.B. Course or 5-year LL.B Course | Pursuing post-graduation.
  • Students can take part only individually.

Details of the Competition 

Upon registration, participants will be given a ‘Brand Name’ and the class that the good or service falls under. The competition is divided into three phases:

  1. Writing the search report. [The participants are to look for the given brand name in the Trademark Registry and submit the report. Along with the report, a legal opinion that is given to the client is also to be attached. A sample document will be given upon registration]
  2. Filing Trademark application for the given brand on our portal. [ It will give the participants an almost real experience of filing Trademark]
  3. Filing Counter-Objection. [The Trademark application will be Objected under Section 9 or Section 11 of the Trademark Act. The participants will have to send a ‘Counter Objection’ explaining as to why such an Objection does not stand]

Submission Guidelines 

  • The reports shall not be plagiarised.
  • It shall not exceed 2000 words 
  • It shall be submitted as an attachment in Word format with a font size of 12 and line spacing of 1.5 lines in Times New Roman font style.
  • The report shall be uploaded in our Portal, for which the link shall be provided to the participant.
  • Counter-objection shall be mailed to us with the Subject ‘Submission – Name of the Participant’. Email details will be provided to the participant.

Important Dates

  • Last Date of Registration: 31st July 2020
  • Date of Webinar details and instructions of the competition: 2nd August 2020 (tentative date) 
  • Date of assigning the brand: 6th August 2020
  • Last date of Submission of Search Report and legal opinion: 12th August 2020
  • Last date for filing the Trademark Application: 15th August 2020
  • Date of receiving the objections: 17th August 2020
  • Last date of Submission of Counter Objections: 24th August 2020 [Participant will mail Counter-Objection to the specified Email]
  • Declaration of Results: On or before 30th August 2020
