Internship Bank started in mid-December 2019 has already secured 40 internships for students ranging from colleges such as Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, NAS College, Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies, Symbiosis Law School, Aligarh Muslim University, KIIT School of Law, Saveetha School of Law and many more.
The online platform was the brain-child of Senior Associate Debolina Saha Narayanan of Hong Kong based US law firm, Dorsey & Whitney LLP. In the mission to inspire success amongst women, she is ably assisted by three young volunteers Shubhaankar Ray and Mansi Meena (both from NALSAR, University of Law) and Alice Tsui (from Hong Kong University).The platform was formed with the aim to provide internship opportunities to first generation female students who come from lesser-known colleges or colleges that are yet to have an established alumni network, or from humble backgrounds, so as to help shape careers of such young students.
Internship Bank whose motto is to “connect today’s successful women to tomorrow’s successful women” has now become a buzz word amongst college students. The platform not only connects internship opportunities extended by successful senior women professionals to upcoming female professionals but provides mentorship and safe working environment to young students who would otherwise struggle to source such opportunities. Thus in the long run, Internship Bank aims to bring about diversity and inclusion and close the gender gap in the legal profession.
